There’s no fixed number for a new website. I’d start slowly with a few relevant, quality backlinks rather than building a large number at once.

As many SEO experts say here, there’s no fixed backlink count for a new site. I’d base it on SERP competition and competitor referring-domain profiles. Be focused on topically relevant, editorially placed links rather than chasing volume.also keep an eye on anchor-text distribution and overall link quality as site grows.

there's no fixed number honestly, i've seen new sites rank with just 5-10 solid relevant links, quality and relevance matter way more than hitting some target count early on

For a new site I don't chase a number, I focus on getting 5-10 solid relevant links in the first couple months before scaling up. Quality and natural pacing matter way more than hitting some target count.

usually recommend starting with around 10–20 quality backlinks. niche relevant i use this one.
