Hello BHW. I'm not really familiar with backlinks so I have question.
    I have local webpage - domain.lv
Is there any difference, if I use .lv or .com backlinks? Will .lv backlinks affect my page more or no?

    Martin.

    IMMWilde,

Great question. The short answer to your question is yes it will affect your site in different ways however one isn't necessarily better than the other unless you take into account your goals for the page you are creating backlinks for.

Note that the main reason for building backlinks is to increase the page rank of a page. Each individual page of your site has its own page rank. It is easy to focus only on the home page of a website however building backlinks to many pages on a website should be what you go after.

Here you are talking about two different domains and the same rules apply for the most part. If you build backlinks to .lv, you will increase the page rank for that domain. If you choose the .com, you will be building page rank for that.
