Hi all,

Did some of you already tried to rank French keywords? Do you have any hint on how to do that?

Hope you could help

Regards,

Asher

When you say French Keywords you need to be more specific, you don't ned to tell us what those words are but you at-least need to know.

I have a list of roughly 17k blogs from the keywords "French" and "France". Broad words I know but that's what they wanted. Hopefully that will give you some ideas.

It is a niche site in beauty related, mostly with static pages, and a few posts to keep the site alive. It is currently not online, but I am working on.

I do not understand this part of your answer. 17k blogs! What do you mean by
what they wanted
?

Thanks for your answer!

French keywords or targeting french customers (living in France)?

If you're targeting France customers, you need to get almost backlinks from .fr domains...

French speaking customers (be, fr, ch, qc, ...). So, backlinks from .fr domains or from .* domains with French content?

you need to target some local (original France's) social networking sites. Basically article submission and the directory submission of the articles could be your way to get ranked.

OK, thanks. Does it make sense to translate articles and make some backlinks from english article directories to my french website? Not to generate traffic, but only for backlinks of course ;)

You can. I have worked on a few French websites, and this is always one of the techniques I use. You can also use French article directories, but there's not many of them and the best ones are strictly moderated (but they're great both for traffic and link juice). If your French is not that good, don't waste your time on them. You can also have normal English links to the website. As long as they use the correct anchor, they'll be helpful.
