backlinks for aged domain

I have a domain that's 8 years old and only has about 1200 backlinks. I know that building brand new sites backlinks too quickly will sandbox it but what about an older domain like this? Would building say 2000 backlinks per month hurt it?

Here is the quick version:

They google doesn't care how many backlinks you throw at it or how new the domain is.

It's a term they call -> Query Deserves Freshness.

Think about it like this...


A natural disaster hits France and the french people no longer have wine!

So someone starts a site called:

Help-Send-Wine-To-France-Now.info


--> it's an info domain (yuck)

---> it's got 6 words and dashes between them (yuck)

---> but if it really was a good site with people linking to it naturally...


Then all the "magic" google rules go out the window.


It will rank because:


Of High PR links from authority sites (relevant or related content)

Links from low PR sites ( but in a natural way)

So if your aged domain is relevant to the new site --- then do it! ---

Just make the links pointing to it look natural.

Thanks for the tips. I've added about 3000 links to it over the past 5 days and the only place it's gone is up in the ranks. It's at position 6 now with about 1200 of the links indexed according to yahoo. Maybe it will push up to the top three with this surge.
