Backlinks disappearing

Why do backlinks disappear?

I`d guess that some of the properties you created got deleted... but I also saw some of my backlinks disappeared for another reason: some blogs use a plugin which places your comment in different pages, boxes, sidebars, etc. and it get you a hundred or even more backlinks from one site... and later it starts decreasing...
