Backlinks Deindexed?!

Hey guys,

just a quick question for you....suddenly all the backlinks I had for my main, 100% white hat site have been deindexed. I have no idea why..Nothing shown in the google webmasters tools, no penalties, no nothing.. did any of you experience anything like this? ok, actually, i still have 3 backlinks indexed, however over 17,000 backlinks were removed without any notice. what's going on here? oO

I've had exactly the same thing. I assumed that it's a glitch in google but this concerns me slightly...

I had the opposite last week. All of the sudden, seobook told me I had 2M backlinks for one of my sites. Turned back to 4k a while later.

Perhaps it's just a glitch. OR maybe google is de-indexing all shady looking backlinks.

I've heard of this happening though before. Apparently, from what I remember, your backlinks are still being counted.

I agree, the main thing to note zerodtk is that you will never see a huge %age of the backlinks you have. It is in G's best interest to keep them hidden) from their competition & people like us

For Eg: I have a site that I know has a minimum of 52K backlinks - it's currently showing between 150-400 depending on what you use to check (yahho site explorer/sbox)

Worry about serps/income

hmm. i have the same problem now. but its not right for me now. and i have not lost any rankings. so it has to be a glitch.

not sure...i've found my site on the 3rd page, but the google webmaster tools says, there are only 3 backlinks available...I really hope it will be resolved..otherwise i have to find another method to get to the first page :/

what type of backlinks are removed ? 6 months ago i had exactly problem, google deindexed hundreds of profile backlinks (expresson engine type) and my site got penalized.

You think Google has a glitch like that? I would guess they're showing even less and less info.

I would guess it's Panda related, devalued links are no longer showing. Rankings are what's important since Google admits they don't show all the links.

its a glitch, it has happened before and will probs happen again. BTW the links aren't 'de-indexed' - they merely aren't showing in WMT.

I've noticed the same thing, in fact links to the homepage/specific inner pages aren't showing in WMT. It is the same on a couple of sites of mine, 1 does have an actual google penalty, the other doesn't - so I'm pretty sure it isn't related to anything other than a data glitch in WMT rather than Google's ranking and counting of the links.
