I have a service based website, If you do searches for a majority of my keywords, my competitors yelp pages show in the results. My yelp reviews are better and I have a few more than this particular competitor.
In some cases the competitors yelp result is ranked higher than my site and my competitors site.

So, would it be a good idea to do a small backlink campaign for my yelp page?
At least to get my yelp page to show instead of the competitors.

thanks

Why not do negative link building for your friends yelp page? Heck google seems to be ok with it.

hmm.
Not sure how I feel about that.
I don't think I want to ruin any ones work, I just want to be better than them.

BUT.... how would something like that work, I don't know how to do negative link building.

Here is an often overlooked tip when trying to optimize for things like Yelp.

Yelp has "message boards" and topics that users create, for example "Best Sushi Places in NYC" or something equivalent. Then they link to the Yelp pages for those businesses within those message boards. What's nice about this is that often times if they are hot topics they'll receive PageRank and the links to the other Yelp business pages are ******** links.

That's why you'll see competitors outranking your Yelp page, even though it has more reviews or even better reviews. Build yourself some links on these message boards/topics within Yelp. Then begin doing a backlink building campaign to both the Yelp business page and the topics that you just got links from.

Overtime Google will place the importance on your Yelp business page and push down your competitors.

Interesting, I'm going to try that out.

Thank you
