Backlinking question?

Point them to the actual article (your 2nd example above). Of course, you can gain "authority" for your blog and thus higher rankings if you also gradually send backlinks to your website and blog as well.
 
Mix it up. But, only link to the actual blog page when it's relevant. For example, if you're guest blogging on someone's site about a specific dog treat mentioned in the 'best dog treats' article, then link it to that article. If you're just talking about dog treats in general and not mentioning the best of them, or a specific treat mentioned in that article, then link to the homepage. Hope this makes sense.. it's really not that complicated though..
 
I have always just backlinked to the "Blog" not to the particular article with the anchored text so i guess I was doing it wrong?
 
if you want have position for your articles, then of course you must have backlinks to your articles, but and for your main pages of course must be backlinks
 
You are going good only the thing matters when you submit these backlinks on other sites then it is important sites should have good PA/DA for good juice flow.
