Hi. Quick backlinking question. I am trying to get a page on my site, that is not the home page, ranked for its keyword. If I am backlinking to the homepage but with the deep page's keyword will it help my deep page or only the homepage?

Thanks

For the most part it will help your home page. A rule of thumb (not iron clad) is to split your links up with around 70% going to the home page, 30% deeplinking.

If in your case you are SPECIFICALLY trying to get one single (deep page) page ranked, then just pound out more links specifically to it.

In my case, when I want to achieve that result, I'll often use a subdomain.

ok cool. thanks for the info

Yes you need to throw a minimum of 30% of your sites total number of backlinks to the the innerpages.

Use Backlinkwatch to tell the # of backlinks you have indexed

Hey I have another question. My main page is not indexed. Could this effect the ranking of the deep pages that are indexed?

Thanks
