You can find this information in quiet a few posts here on BHW. Backlinks take time to be found, especially by Google. It could take days or weeks until they are indexed. If you want to speed up the process you need to look into Pinging or RSS feed your back links. Try using Yahoo! Site Explorer to check for your back links. Yahoo! seems to update and display incoming links much more frequently than the big G.

If your website is new then it takes a month or two if have properly built backlinks on relevant pages.
