Backlink to my clients website

I work in website development and design business. Is it a good idea to get backlink from those websites as a subpage. I mean I write a post about website development, that how we write the code, how we did the job etc.. and add this article to client website as a subpage(not link to footer). like: www.domain.com/website-development/

And link main keyword or business name to my site.

Is it helping me in SERPS. Has anybody tried that and is there any results(bad or good)?
