Backlink to Home Page vs Inner Page

I have a plan to create an e-commerce with a product page above 1000 posts.

When it comes to backlinking, which should I pointed to? Homepage to increase my Domain Authority, or product page for specific keyword?

Well, if product pages, then I need a very huge money for backlinking.

I typed some keywords on Google and find the results that some huge website could rank their inner page despite they (the inner page) don't have any backlink at all. But when I checked the root domain, it has DA around 60-80.

So, can I copy that strategy based on the result? - Just focus on building backlink to the homepage in order to increase my Domain Authority, so the inner page will climb to the first page (or even top 3) by itself?

I prefer to make landing pages that target multiple keywords (within a topic) with the products on the landing page, instead of trying to focus on hundreds or thousands of product pages.

For easier keywords I’ll just make the product category pages the landing pages.

Rarely are links needed for individual product pages if you know how to do keyword research and on page SEO. The few that do need links will surface as you start building links and tracking rankings.

You do need to link to your home page when building backlinks. I do that about 30% of the time. So for every 10 backlinks I’ve built about 3 of those are branded links to the home page.

It's good to build some authority to the homepage, but solely building links to the homepage is a huge red flag. I always look at the top 3 websites' link distribution. I also default back to a website with a completely natural link profile. Many times, a considerable percentage of their links aren't pointing to the homepage.

Obvious disclaimer - Every website is different, what works for one website, may not work for another. This is the wonderful world of SEO.

You don't build links only to homepage or only inner pages. For maximum result, send some of your links to the homepage, mayeb 30% of total links. Then the rest to inner pages(product pages in your case).

The way I point links to inner pages on my websites is by going through search console to see what pages are already getting the most impressions and has a better rank than the rest, I prioritize such pages, after which I check others with the most potential.

However, i'd say havng 4 links per 50 links, pointed to an inner page / a deep linked page, is a great rule of thumb

And of those 4 links, make sure the structure of those is right now

3 links generic, 1 link is targeted anchor text

Building the authority by adding the links to the homepage is great. It won't help all the time IMO. You can send some number of links to inner/product pages. But instead of sending links to all the 1000s of product pages, you can just focus on main product pages.

Just build back links around your website rather than sending more links to your homepage only. Sometimes, backlinks to your inner pages builds a connection with the visitors of your website.

Homepage backlink is best quailty backlink for other website and page backlink is best but compare to home.
