Backlink Strategies That Still Work in 2025?

Hey everyone,

So I’ve been digging deep into backlinks lately… and honestly, it’s confusing.

Some people swear by guest posts, others still use Web 2.0s, and then there’s talk about niche edits, PBNs, social signals, you name it.

Here’s the thing… I’ve tried a few methods, but I’m not seeing consistent results.
Sometimes a post gets indexed and ranks. Other times, it just disappears.

So I’m wondering:
  • What’s actually working for you in 2025?
  • Do authority links matter more than quantity now?
  • Is anyone still using tiered link building?
  • And what about anchor diversity — still a thing?
I’m not here to sell anything. Just genuinely trying to figure this out and hoping someone more experienced can drop some knowledge.

Tiered link building is dead. You need direct links from real sites. Real means it should be getting lot of traffic itself from google. Now just some easy to spot PBN.
 
Still seeing results with guest posts on niche-relevant sites and a few quality Web 2.0s. Authority links > quantity for me. Haven’t used tiered links in a while, but anchor diversity still helps for sure.
 
I’ve seen the best results with Guest Posts. If you do your own outreach and target niche related posts you’ll see results within a few months
 
Depends what you're trying to do.

For local SEO web 2.0s, Google stacks, and cloud stacks work just fine, and you can throw in the occasional niche edit.

What for? Even a #1 ranking won't bring traffic to your site.

thats very good advise but what if i have an general website?
 
Backlinks still work. But nowadays, one high-quality link is more valuable than thousands of low-quality ones. In other words, quality matters more than quantity when it comes to backlinks. So, how do you determine the quality of a backlink? Is it DR or DA? Neither. A truly quality backlink is one that have real traffic.

General niche sites need branding (usually press or media works great), social media presence, citations from authority sites, and press releases.
 
In 2025, the best backlink strategies are:
  1. Guest posting on real, relevant websites.
  2. Creating helpful content others want to link to.
  3. Building connections with bloggers and journalists.
  4. Sharing content on social media and communities.
  5. Fixing broken links by offering your content as a replacement.

Focus on quality over quantity.
 
Only Backlinks are beneficial in current world because other you have mention doesn't have that effect that backlinks have
 
bro high quality guest posts and niche edits still dominate but authority and actual traffic matter infinitely more than raw quantity nowadays tiered link building is mostly dead for clean sites unless you are pushing power to secondary web properties or buffering a parasite layout anchor diversity remains crucial to prevent over optimization penalties so stick to natural brand and naked urls for your primary foundational layer and save exact match keywords for your most authoritative contextual placements

In cases like that, quality will undoubtedly outweigh quantity. my main goal is acquiring links from those websites where there is real traffic otherwise, I can get some links but they won't be worthwhil.
 
My 2 cents are that tiered link building is not worth the time. Nowadays you've gotta have backlinks from strong authoritative relevant websites to your niche, or your website/blog is going to be dead soon.
