I've heard a lot of different opinions on this, is backlink relevance important?

I'd say it is after researching lots of companies. I seen a company beat 120k with 1k just because of relevance.

I am not lazy so I am willing to take the time to build the relevant links, but the question is, how much time should it take to find each relevant high pr, and ********. Blogs are my main backlinks, since blogs provide the best links.

I can easily find directories, and what I usually do with directories is put a blog on my website, then I choose "blogs" for categories, passing off link juice. Is this a good method?

Cenkoted,

Yes backlink relevance is important if you are trying to rank your site for the long terms and want to create a good user experience. If those are not your goals, then it probably isn't important for you.

Google has a section in its webmaster guidelines under link schemes that mentions irrelevant links.

Relevance is very important. Manually finding link sources can be time consuming and painful. If you can invest $57 get scrapebox - will help in finding sources quickly. I will suggest you watch the scrapebox channel in YouTube to get some idea how this works.

it's a matter of spending energy. if you can find 10 good relevant links, you can avoid searching for thousands of irrelevant ones

but brute force never fails ;)

Relevant backlink's are the best if you can get them, they beat irrelevant backlinks tenfold!!

backlink relevance is very important, and its becoming more and more improtent over time. Use niche targeted services like guest posts, targeted commnets (not spam commnets likes SB). Yahoo answers and social signals can be very helpful too

You can use Scrapebox or GSA for sinding relavent backlink. If you don't have budget you can very well use foot prints in google and get what you want. Here the link to a huge foot print collection

Also, there is a huge difference between a link and a link with tired backlink. Tired backlink passes huge link juice than a normal link.
