I am going to create backlinks to my site. My site is optimized for another keyword. And it has some post for the keyword i am making backlinks for. So should i make the backlinks links to the post or the homepage? Would google penalize me if I linked to the homepage but didn't have enough optimization for the keyword? And which one would be better to get more link juice? I am stuck right now :wall:
Is one keyword MUCH stronger than the other? I would link to the article/post myself. You are more likely to rank the post than you are the homepage. When you do a search for a specific niche subject, what do you mostly see... links to articles/blog posts, not homepages.
You won't get penalized by Google but it will be harder to rank when your content not optimized for your keyword. Create a new internal page, optimize it for your new keyword you want to rank for and then build links to that page with the right anchor text. For best results this internal page should be linked from your homepage too.
Send 20% of the backlinks to the home page and 80% to the post page. Make sure you send some other links to that page with other related keywords for diversity because it doesn't look natural if all the backlinks to your page use the same anchor text.
