Hey guys, I have a quick question. I'm a newbie at a lot of this so please bear with me. I've been needing money for college for a long time (I'm a freshmen) so i started to look into freelancing. Since I really liked soccer I typed in soccer in the search box and I found this project that a guy was looking for someone to post 20 posts on forums and 1 link back. I thought that was pretty easy so the guy gave me the job! After the first week I was amazed! I just had to do 20 normal posts(on a forum) and put in 1 post with a link back(what I would do is tie in a news article in the australian website and put in on the forum), but It all had to be relevant, not spammy at all. This company is very big in australia. This guy is paying me alot, he is paying me $5 per post, so per each project its 100. Each week he had me doing 5 projects. But now he said that they went over budget so now its 1 project per week! I was really bummed out. I've been looking through the freelancing sites to find similar projects but I can't find any other job that pays as well as this one! Is it because I'm not looking right? Or that the project with the australian is 1 in a million (hard to find). And what is it exactly what I'm doing, Back linking? Cause I've seen in the freelancing sites that people are looking for 1000 back links for 30 bucks!!! Then why is this guy paying so much for my backlinks? Also what do you guys recommend for a newbie like me to start earning some more money? Thanks!
I think you hit it lucky with that freelance gig. You'll find similar jobs but most I've seen aren't as generous in the pay. You're employer probably has a decent budget & doesn't understand internet marketing very well, thus his willingness to pay what he did. I'd do whatever you can to keep him happy & keep the freelance position. Then go ahead & pick up some of the other similar jobs. They may not pay as well but you already know what you're doing & where to look for places to post links. Build up a spreadsheet for easy reference & you'll be able to take on some of those lower paying jobs & still earn a decent amount. Of course I'd just do that as a way to earn a little extra money while you read up on some of the other excellent marketing methods detailed on the forum here.
You are so lucky to have this guy. But the payment you see in other forums or site 1000 posts for just 30 bucks they are looking for some kind of rubbish works. They want everything but don't want to spend bucks. I do 1 or 2 posts per $1. I wish i have a guy like yours. Keep up your good work with your current client.
Hello, there are a lot of freelancer websites on the internet, check them out. But I encourage you to start doing something else since this guy was paying more than he should. Good luck
He was probably paying you at a premium because he liked your initial work. Because he was paying you at all instead of some Xrumer service means that he cares about quality to some extent so you can probably assume that this is the reason. I would definitely be considering other types of free lance jobs outside of building backlinks as this isn't a normal experience--most people who do manual backlinks are very underpaid, especially forum posting.
