we all have bought backlink profiles at least once, right?...10-50-100-1000 backlink profiles on websites we really do not know a lot about.

Today I started browsing a website containing a backlink profile to my blog ans I saw that there were other profiles containing link to gambling and porn websites...and with my horror a thought came to my mind about "Bad Neighboorhoods" and what Google thinks about this topic....
What do you think? Is Google going to penalize those "clean" websites which have backlink profiles on those websites containing porn and gambling profiles? Is this considered Bad Neighboorhoods?

    Please clarify! thanks

If bad neighborhoods are linking to you - no big deal

If you're linking to bad neighborhoods - big deal

In the situation you're talking about, it's likely that your "backlink juice" from those websites will be diminished, however "common seo belief" is that it would not negatively impact your site (google has mentioned a number of times that they don't want it that someone could make bad backlinks to harm a competitor's site)

they are more interested in sites that YOU LINK TO. Links to you from bad neighborhoods will not be credited. This is because outbound links can be controlled by the site member. Inbound links can not be controlled. This also protects webmasters from competitors attempting to knock their rankings.

I agree with the other two posters. Links in - don't worry. Links out - be careful.

If all it took to kill a site in the search engines was to link to it from lot's of bad neighborhoods, everyone would be taking out the competition and making the se's useless.

sometimes it might hurt your site as well,im not 100% sure but i got in to my site tons of links from porn sites (and my site's niche isn't porn),however,i did got penalized for few months. i dont know how google exactly makes the decisions but im assuming that the problem was the porn sites that linked to mine.
