Let's say my competitor's backlink profile has no text or naked image URLs. Would it be a good idea to copy this backlink profile to try to outrank him? What I'm asking is if using a no anchor, naked image backlink spam will still work in 2019.

And my competitor put these images on second rate search engines that are hosted by free hosting programs. Does that mean that he bought or hosted these images on that network himself? Would this be a good example of novice SEO

Be aware that in the past year a lot of shitty image linking site have proliferated making a lot of sites having a huge backlink profile of just images. By no means this is a "healty" profile, neither bad altough, but obviously is not worthy being copied.

In that case just ignore this profile and go generic with the common linking pattern.

I still think that a backlink within a text (article) is more valuable and stronger.

It definitely would. It would also be a great learning experience.

I see a lot of those "blank" image anchors myself.

I'm not 100% sure but I think most of these actually index images automatically.

Similar to "stats" websites that will list SEO and traffic data or every website they crawl. Everyone gets these links on autopilot

Is it better to have a image (linked with moneysite) or a anchortext within the content @ backlink?
