You're thinking back in 2011 OP. Its more about getting NICHE links with good content these days. The list would depend on your niche. As would what types of links are good to use. Though if they are niche and quality links you can't hardly go wrong.

its more like getting niche based forum links (signature) that works now.

try to find expired web 2.00 . it will be best if you found niche related . then put medium quality content on your web 2.00 site. after that you can create backlink form web 2.00 . though there are some rules for creating web 2.00 to get better result.

Do lot blog commenting & even if it is having nofollow link you will get traffic from it.
