How do you guys find out your number of backlinks or your site or url?

I've been using Market Samurai in the rank tracker but it has become unreliable and would like to find an alternative source for this data.

The most accurate way is to tag your links so you can do a search in google for the tag and then know exactly how many links Google itself has indexed.

How do you want to search your link tag in Google?

Just use majesticseo, ahrefs or opensiteexplorer...

What would the search string be for say I'm trying to determine the Google BLs for "dog food" the site is http://www.mydogfood.com

links:www.mydogfood.com -site:www.mydogfood.com inanchor: dog food ?

I tried something like this yesterday but no luck. My syntax needs work.
