Backlink Checking Question

Hi,

I have been away from SEO for some time so my knowledge of the techniques is very rusty. Some of the old tools I have don't even work anymore (I'm on Windows 7 and that's why) but I have looked around and think I have found the best modern tools. However, one thing has eluded me (well I think there is only one thing lol) and here it is:

When analysing the competition for a keyword on Google, is there a way to find how many backlinks for that keyword the competition has?

Any help would be appreciated.

I do check manually the backlinks from the top 10 using the free version of SEO Spyglass (it shows the backlinks and which anchor text they are targeting). I think there is also the SEO Quake Firefox Addon which shows the backlinks just under the results.

There are also tools which measure the strength of the competition but I dont like it.

Yes.. You can check the backlinks for that specific keyword using market samurai SEO Competition..

You can go to G00gle search and type in links: " domainname.whatever" and you
will find every link and be able to copy them. Cool beans!!

I forgot , I totally agree with HOUSEMUSIC, you can down load the free version of
seoquake extension for firefox and all of the PR's will show up for every backlink.
