Anyone have strategy for linking such as anchor text ratios and diversity, and linking to pages on a site like home page, blog posts and collection pages?

I noticed some of my competitors have branded anchor text quite high so that is a focus for me and I also imagine it could show more credibility to search engines if inner pages get some links too, so I try to include those as well, and some random anchors.

    Thanks

I normally have a lot of brand anchor, and also I use a tool that finds all keywords on a page, then use that to get a big list of generic, but site relevant, keywords for generic anchors...

As for inner page linking, I'm guessing that will help to produce natural back link profile, but not sure so interested to hear other replies on whether that's important....

With Penguin these days, you have to keep your anchor text diversified, and linking using your brand gives your domain more authority, and lets your onsite point search engines in the right direction.

I've seen cases where people actually just use generic/brand anchor texts on their PBNs as well (where it used to be exact match back a few months) and still rank great.

As for the inner pages, I mostly link with page title, something related, never exact anchors - kind of how you would link if you linked to some news site - related, few words LSI keywords, generic, stuff like that.

Dont go after linking strategies. Just look at what your competition is doing, and try to do better than them.

Agree with this. I have also seen a few quite competitive niches where people are ranking without any direct anchors at all.

Most of my competition has high percent of anchor text as branded. I think I may give this a try - get branded to around 50% of anchor text and bunch of LSI anchors as mentionedhere.
