Backlincks beat SEO/Keywords everytime?

Hello,

When I search in google for certain terms in my country only shops appear, is it because they are big and have lots of backlinks or it could possibly mean that there is no competition on these terms and I should act on it?

Why don't you do research on the websites to find out? Check their backlinks, amount of pages and keywords. Then you will have your answer.
