I'm doing ORM and need to perform regular background checks on individuals. These individuals are NOT necessarily the individual I am doing ORM for. ORM business is making hires and if I can provide some information on who they are interested in hiring I'll get a pay boost.

Does anyone here have a service they can recommend? Affordable (or free) would be best. These people may be hired based upon the contents of the report.

What type of info are you looking for? Financial, criminal, civil, all of the above? If you are providing background information in relation to employment of any type you will have to comply with the FCRA and any individual state regulations regarding employment screening. If you have a signed release and are complying with federal and state regulations, I can help you out.

I intend to comply with State regulations. Would it be possible for you to link me to some more information about signing a release?

Here is some info from the FTC on conducting employment screening. https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/background-checks-what-employers-need-know
Here is one if you intend to use consumer reports, like credit reports or driving records. https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/bus...ing-consumer-reports-what-employers-need-know
You can probably find a generic release online somewhere. Background checks are a huge pain in the ass for companies. That is why they usually hire an employment screening agency. The Feds take this stuff very seriously and since the whole ban the box movement has started, it has become more of a legal quagmire than before.

Thanks for your very helpful reply. In no way would the background checks be a way of "discrimination." We simply need to make sure that the person doesn't have a criminal record and make sure the potential contract worker doesn't have a bad work history.

$20 per month doesn't seem ridiculous.

I understand completely. My first company I started with my brother was a background check agency. We both started off as licensed PIs and grew the company into a reputable background check agency. Depending upon what information you have on these folks I can tell you how to conduct an extremely accurate criminal record check pretty much for free. Hit me up in PM and I will explain the process.

Thank you so much! I'll hit you up as soon as I get this venture a little bit more fleshed out and I have a little bit more information. I don't want to waste your time! :)

Man! This thread is full of great info. I don't do any background checks, but I'm impressed by the amount of work and legislation that goes into it!

I'm not sure basic background check can tell you the work history. They usually run it through some databases. As for work history, we usually ask for references.
Plus, Facebook is the perfect source of info. If the job requires more strict control, I would do a random drug test.

As for background check, see those guys http://www.hireright.com
    or these guys http://www.adp.com/solutions/large-business/services/talent-management/background-screening.aspx
they can even do your payroll
