Basically the question I`m having is: how to approach back link building to a site that is not .com and the content of the site is not in English. :sombrero:

Can I still link my site to .com sites? will it help my .lv (Latvian domain) rank well anyway? :45:

I guess with good on page seo and some articles I could bring the clients site up in google nicely =] Because the competitor sites are really basic and there is not much competition. :google2:

Then I have a new question :D Is it better for me to use .lv (country's domain names that the page is targeted to) or .com domain? I guess if I use .com domain the target auditory will still be able to find the site right? Or have I missed something...

If you want rank high in google.lv you will need to get the backlinks from *.lv sites.

Then maybe using .com domain with content of the language I need, would be my best shot?! :popworm:

You can still do the process of backlinking without a .com domain.

why did you go for my country niches </3

My advice would be build backlinks from both .lv and .com (because I know it is difficult to find backlinks from lv) and change ur targeted country to latvia in googles webmaster.

As long as you have a good amount .lv links and ur domain is .lv and everything is written in latvian I think you will have no problem ranking.

Backlinks are good no matter where they come from, so getting backlinks from .com domains to your lv domian is good .

I run some sites with my local language and i have over time learned that links from your country?s tld domains is very important to archive the status as an authority site in your local google.

    I also have some advice.

    1. You can outsource getting backlinks to your local domain to any SEO company, they just need to have a brain and know how to use google translate ;)

    2. Use Web 2.0 sites like hubpages etc and create linkwheels in your own language work fine. This allmost seems to have the same "link juice value" if you keep the pages in the same language as the target page.. And the sites administrators don't seem to mind(well in my language anyway) + they rank very well in your local google serach engine.. Just some personal experience from doing local sites.

that is not totally true, I have a non-US domain, which has lots of backlinks from .com .net domains, and I am in top 5 for my keywords on google DOT my country extension, but also on google.com. So they are very useful, any backlink counts.
So is better to get the domain extension, with your country extension.
