Hi all, which one more accurate AWStat or Google analytics.

I found something interesting here my Google analytics stats only less than half my AWStat.

So, whats your opinion guys????

Use both and take average. This is what i personally do. Most of the time awstats registers much more "hits" (sometimes not real visitors) because the stats are coming from serverside logs.

Well, analytics leaves footprints. It tells google what you are doing. For example if you have multiple sites/ blogs and you are doing some shady things on them a good idea is to not have analytics on .

If what you're doing is squeaky clean then sure, analytics is the way to go.

Ok bro, thanks, I will check and install statcounter :D

AWStats is most accurate because it uses server access logs. So it tracks any kind of hit that your server gets from anything. Analytics is a piece of Javascript code... if it's not run, it doesn't work. People with Javascript disabled won't get tracked.

yep. awstats is more accurate. traffic count lost when the users hit your page but pressing stop button before it loads google analytics script .

Splur, thanks bro why I do not mention about javascript hahahaha yup finally I know why it such difference

It akes some time to set up google analytics but it is well worth it. I like to think that g.analytics. tells Google to rank me better because I care about their traffic tools and I verified myself as the site owner etc

I ike the idea also about big G. tracking and being aware of my site performance great for long term sites!

but I wont suggest it for BH sites etc

anyone using Piwik ?
it has similar interface to Analytic and pretty nice since all data store on your host and it totally free

lern how to use analytics. there's shitloads of info about it on googles help-sites.

i use it on a lot of small and some big sites, i track ecommerce and transactions with it and do a lot of other stuff. you absolutely can't compare awstats/webalizer and all the other free and open source stuff out there to analytics...

analytics shows me where the "money visitors" come from, i see paths users take and i can take a very close look on adwords campaigns as it's fully integrated (every penny every keyword makes)...

there are other great tools out there (webtrekk / webtrends / urchin [analytics big brother]) but those cost quite a lot of money...

and yes, you give a lot of information to google. but that's their price. take webtrekk and you pay up to 10k€ per year... so you have to decide. but don't use googles tools on blackhat sites.

wow this is was great info for me

thx all :)

I use piwik for all my sites and it works great
It's easy to set up, highly customizable and real time

I don't like sharing my data with google ;)

awstats because it doesn't use javascript

Agree with this, analytics just like put spy cam on your website, it have a great feature, just make sure your site is clean.

AW stats tends to more accurate since not all browser have java turned on.

i usualy use extremetracking.com ,they simple n powerfull

AWSTATS and google analystics both are good... I use both of them and many times their data regstrng is different with each other.
