What would happen if you design a beautiful landing page and redirect upon form submit to a call to action page which again directs the user to a prefilled offer?

    Nice conversions.

I need quite a simple landing page template like the one over at http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/create-simple-personal-landing-page-adobe-muse/

Does anyone remember where I can find something like this premade?

It only needs [one] central attention grabbing call to action; I was thinking something like a Button near the bottom of the page.

    Thanks!

Is it just me or wouldn't you want the CTA Button near the top, or at least above the fold?

Perhaps both at the top and at the bottom.

I think I'm just going to go with a v. simple html page, w/ a very basic css-powered design.

I don't want anything too hefty, this page of the lander is meant to be "directions", not a pre-sale.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    [Button]

[Directions, including text call to action to FILL OUT the form on the next page]

[Button--the same one at the top]

    Will do my best.

Update: Finished html direction page. I just modified the source of this page: http://www.bluerobot.com/web/layouts/

    Changes made to that source:
    - made "The Layout Resourvor" more to the top a little (sorry about this wording)
    - made a space between "The Layout Resourvor" and the surrounding dashed line. the space I made is equal to the space from the top of the page to the start of "The Layout Resourvor" text.
    - on my first landing page form, they fill out their name and email address. i modified "The Layout Resourvor" to look like
    Code:
$name, thank you for choosing [text here]!
    - in the stylesheet: deleted all [background] css code from body{}. I deleted the background picture.
    - changed the text obviously. now it only has 3 titles in the body, each with their own <p>, and one simple link to the pre-pop offer at the bottom. the style sheet that comes with the page I linked to styles all links too, so it looks dramatic.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Idk if I should add a javascript pop up telling the user to [Please input valid information upon form submission.] before they they get directed to the loffer.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Decided not to sound like i'm trying to get them to fill out the form forcefully by any means; rejected the additional instruction pop-up. Instead, I simply added [one] "Click Here To Continue" call to action link at the bottom (still inside the dashed line body).

What I still need to get done:
    - edit the header image
    - DONE: apply the $name variable in thank-you.html
    - DONE: post the contents of the form in a mysql db to build up a list
    - implement dynamic variables for the text body
    - design a flyer

    Update:
    - updated header image, it needs to be a little lighter blue though - cleaned up index.php so it doesn't echo stuff as much
    - edited TAC.html; added a generic TOS, edited it, and added a nice css footer [grey]
    - resized javascript graybox TOS pop up too

    - next step is to create variables for the company, address, etc so all i have to do when i mass create this landing page is change some vars [like, change some options]

Not sure I have time for that, perhaps once this is actually started.

Not trying to be an asshole, but just trying to express what's going on atm.

I work on this thing almost every time i'm on my laptop, about ten hours a day.

I finish school at 940AM, and immediately stay in the classroom until like 3:00PM just working on it until I get so hungry I have to ride home.

    Lol.

But yeah, the focus is on productivity though, and this thread is a good way to keep me organized.

Second thought: It's kind of weird why this thread actually works for me... I have this cool friend online named Chris and I always update what I do to my page w/ him. That also helps me keep organized in some odd way lol...

What I mean by "keep organized" is I will only think of [one] thing to implement on this page, and then [do it].

It's kind of weird that this repetitive, boring work is quite--like.. not exactly "fun", but 'not boring' and kind of enjoyable too; but I think that's because I'm earning a web page from it.

I wish school was like that with my degree.

If you don't want anything too fancy there are probably a number of designers who can make that LP for you.

The examples you showed are probably more expensive than the 'average' stuff, or are you doing it all yourself?

    I'm doing it all myself.

I was considering paying someone for it, just can't afford it.

Running into some problems with echoing a file... would hate to have to include this bulky form code in my index page, but that's probably the only way I'll get the var's to show up properly :(.

Edit: The problem was because my TAC had an
    HTML:
extension; php needs the html doc to be a [php] extension.

Update: Noticed there was a bug which showed the variable name in the address bar when users go directly to my processing page via the address bar. [ http://www.site.com/script.php?var=$rootURL ]

    ^^FIXED: I defined a rootURL when there was already a $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] super global :0 ^^

Also, when ppl click the greybox TAC popup, they can't utilize the back button to close the frame, but instead must click the [x] button.

    Will fix soon.

^^What I need to do is find a way to identify when the user presses the back button, then I can just if back button, then header redirect to index.php ^^

Update: Javascript can solve this problem. Upon researching "recognizing back button", I came upon some Yahoo library that has a function built in: [ [URL]http://yuilibrary.com/yui/docs/history/history-tabview.html[/URL] ].

I absolutely can't even half recognize javascript like I can PHP though... :(

    ikr?

too bad [a majority] of graphicriver's flyers are party flyers--I don't go to partys!

anyways, i forgot to put money in the bank; so I can't buy it until I ride over there in the next few hours.

meanwhile, OMG i have to go to the br!

What I still need to get done:
    - DONE: edit the header image
    - DONE: apply site-wide companyName and itemName variables
    - DONE: post the contents of the form in a mysql db to build up a list
    - implement tropo.com voip support--send an sms upon form submission
    - design a flyer

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to talk more about implementing tropo.com support.

Idea: add another field to my form--the "phone number" field. hook this up with tropo.com to automatically send the user a text message reminding them of my domain name, so that they'll have it with them later on (when they go home or something).

The text message body will probably be along the lines of a thank you note: [Thank you for contacting $companyName! We appreciate your entry and are glad to inform you that your entry has been accepted--you've won!]

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: Have been lollygagging ever since I got up this morning, lieserly browsing bhw/the internet...

Will take a quick nap, then go deposit the stuff at the bank, buy/edit my flyer, then go to a nearby fedex office to make my first flyer.

Update: So I deposited money in the bank, but never got anything done lol. I will consider this my day off.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: just bought the flyer, proceeding to edit it.

Edit: there is no blue option, only orange :(. You could make it blue if you wanted though, you'd just have to change the background layer.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: Finished the flyer, looks clever. Ran into some complications though:
    - Where I want to post them, they have a glass cabinet lock on the bulletin board; I will just have to tape it on the outside I guess :/.

I'm really thinking that people wont remember to go to my site and fill out the form. They need something tangible to take home w/ them so they will perhaps remember to go there after they get home. Quite frankly, you have to be pretty motivated to go to an advertised site for any reason.

Also, my site doesn't support mobile traffic, and that is a major problem!

I will have to work on the form structure to add automatic texting to an optional field called "cell phone". perhaps when people focus on this field, a jquery notification box will appear telling them that they will receive a text at this number as soon as they press submit.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: I'm just thinking that even after I complete the site w/ the auto text and professional looking everything, it just won't convert... Maybe it's that I don't think cpa landing pages like "Free iPod" and "Free Tickets" will convert at all; perhaps the cpa game isn't for me?

Will continue to devote time into this landing page.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: Finished with the voip backend, but am running into problems with cURL.

Update: Wow... curl_errno and curl_error cout no problems. it's like my server ghosts my curl :(

Simple note: I have never ever did this much coding in any language, including html, ever... I am learning a lot, and am getting more and more confident in my website design skills every time I add something neat into this landing page. But I really need to start this asap to get some money out of it!

    Time for a [bump]!

Update: still stuck at the curl error. I have the code integrated and everything but it isn't establishing the connection, even though curl_errno() = 0; & curl_error() = NULL

    Weird ha?

Update: finished the script; there was a bloody space in my url!

    I just used str_replace to find " " and replace it w/ "+".

    Will add encode_url support later.

Still need to implement javascript form check if the phone field is populated.

    Thanks bro :)

Working on it right now, should be cool.

I got a job too, working at a manufacturing company that makes medical tubing and plastics. 12 hours a day!

So I found my rent money :).

    Will update.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Update:
    - preg_replaced everything that wasn't a digit in the optional phone field
    - added urlencode() support to all vars w/ potential to have spaces or other url-unsupported chars
    - mysql db storage of phone number

    Still need to do:
    - add javascript validation for optional phone field
    - work on auto text function (fix copy, prevent duplicate txt's)
    - and uhh... idk what else. perhaps add a dynamic logo image somewhere :0

    Will update.
