Avoiding personal info being visible to customers?

I have a Paypal Business account, but I need to hide my real name and address from my website customers. Long story but suffice to say, me and my family's safety is at risk if I get found. We moved 400 miles due to this problem.

I sell ebooks on a niche information website. I used Clickbank but sick to death of those lying dumb assholes. Also sick of the refund junkies getting my info (which is the best on the topic anywhere) and getting a one click refund. A friend told me if i use paypal business account (using buy buttons on the site) then buyers will ONLY see Business account name and not my personal name or address. Is that true? If so, what if they really DIG like hell to find the name ofthe person behind the business account? Is it POSSIBLE to find out?

I have looked at selz.com (which looks good but no affiliate program which is a pain in the a55), and SendOwl also, but SendOwl just like E-Junkie and many others are only a front end, so I still need a payment processor like Paypal, so I still have the same problem IF Paypal does give my personal info out.

Any advice or thoughts would be really appreciated. Thanks guys

Dude, if your PayPal business account names an incorporated company (which I think it has to, to link to a commercial bank account?) then it takes about 30 seconds on google uk to find out who the owner/ director / persons of significant control are, where they live and companies they’re associated to active, dormant or dissolved.

If you think you or your family are actually in danger because of this then it’s potentially crossing from civil to criminal boundaries. Maybe you should contact the authorities about the concern?

My understanding is that your name and such will be exposed in the case of a chargeback being filed, even with a business PayPal account. Anywhere else, no.

JVZoo - not looked into that but looked into loads of others which do a similar thing. Are you just suggesting I look into it or are you saying you think that is a solution to the problem?

MrMagic - Thanks, I should have said, no i am not incorporated. I had a personal PP account. I upgraded it to business, it still points to same bank account (personal). PP never asked for incorp or company docs/bank accounts. The issues was/is actually criminal, not civil. Well it was both, but police were certainly involved. I am not in MUCH danger, but there is a CHANCE that if someone from that group of people find me then I could be, and I just can't take the risk, even if it means not doing business online. But I know there is a solution. A friend of mine just tested a purchase for me, he bought an ebook from me using Paypal, and all he can see is the "business name" as I gave in Paypal. (made up, not a proper company). He is now gonna dig, ask Paypal for contact details to write a letter to the business owner etc. Will see what that drags up.

cjh - Hmmm, I hadn't thought of chargebacks, good point, thanks. I will do a test chargeback and see what happens, never had one before, but yes if that's a loophole where buyers could find me then that ruins the plan, as the people I dont want to find me would do that if they thought it might get to me. Thanks for this comment, thats why i posted, I knew I would be forgetting something!

I have looked into Selz.com, Fastpring, 2CO, e-junkie, SendOwl, and more. Some are all in one processors and front ends, so dont need a merchant account. Some need Paypal or another merchant. Still not found a solution yet.

Stealth Paypal account, you can buy them with the limits already removed with false information.

Thanks bumont. I have vaguely heard of these but fairly sceptical. What I am doing is fully legit so I was hoping to find a legit solution. Selz for example told me they understand (I explained part of the problem) and confirmed they would not give any info to anyone, but never know how much to trust stuff people say before selling you somethin!

I am not against a stealth account completely, but I have friends who had shit loads of money "suspended" by the PP swines due to a technicality, never saw the money again. I don't want to give Paypal a reason to steal my money as I hope to make a few bucks FINALLY out of the newest ebook I will publish soon! Family are fucken broke, living in a field, not good. This is my hope to pull us out of it, the information is pretty golden (only for a narrow niche interest group), and I really would like to make sure i GET it!!

I looked into JVZOO and they are not a payment processor so that doesn't solve the problem unfortunately.
