Hello Blackhatters,

Before I come on the topic, let's agree to a well-known fact that we all lie. Those who just shook their head in disagreement may have forgotten that they tick on, "I have read terms and conditions" column without even reading a line of terms and conditions. :D Some lies are harmless in nature, and then there are other form of lies, which can potentially make or break relationship between two people. Since, I consider BHW as my second family, so I'd request you guys,
unless there's an extreme need for doing so, avoid lying. It's my personal experience that in some cases even a harmless lie can sour a decade long relationship (business, family, love etc.).

The problem with lying is that you've to always cover it up with another lie. You're always under constant state of fear. For covering one lie, you'd end up making hundred other stories and for covering those hundred stories, you'd have to make up thousand other stories, and in this manner the chain will keep on increasing. You'd soon develop fear psychosis about your lie being unraveled. All these things are interlinked and everything starts from an innocent lie. So, please think twice before lying.

Before I close this post, I'd like to share an old saying, "
Lie has to be clothed, truth roams naked, ". God Bless Y'all.

Cheers :)

To be a good liar one needs an excellent memory, so that counts me out!

However in the street talking to girls many seem to perk up when one says I have a big cockerel lol :p

I agree, I try my very best not to lie about anything anymore and I feel much better because of it. I feel no need to lie as I hold myself responsible for my actions. Be honest and truthful and there is less crap that comes your way. Especially don't lie to those that you care about and are close to you and those people that mean something to you.
I have learnt the hard way that honesty is always the best policy.

I agree fully with the OP. Lying is for one bad karma, for two unless you're telling a small white lie like about Santa Claus or something, then you should try to be 100% honest at all times.

Unless your wife catches you messing about with some ladies on facebook........then lie like a pro and do not be ashamed about it !

If you don't lie, you don't have to remember anything.

Just do not speak any word when you think you can tell lie.
This is also a way to get out of situation. of course it needs patience.

It's not always easy to tell the truth and in some cases it's not always the best idea. I personally try not to lie but it's not always as simple as that, sometimes there are things that you want or even need to keep to yourself. What do you do then? I try to avoid such situations but when it does comes to them I try to keep my response vague, so I don't exactly lie but at the same time I don't exactly respond with a concrete answer.

But when it comes to everyday things where there is no need to lie, I hate when people beat around the bush telling you crap. Just be direct, say what's on your mind and stop wasting time.

Lying is like planting weed in your flower garden and then trying to get rid of it once it's taken over. You'll be able to clean your garden up and remove the weed but once the seed is planted it will be hard to do so. It'll grow roots, and as some of you may know it won't stop growing unless you get to the root of it.

Northern UK folks have a great black humor laced with sarcasm love it...

Have you got a used Rolls Royce for sale - one lady driver - low mileage - pristine condition...

Would be interested in the sales spiel that goes with that please?:p

It really depends on the lie. Of course I don't lie in business, that would get me nowhere(or jail) but in personal life I often choose to somehow modify the truth or just not tell a few details and thus changing the picture, sometimes this really is easier than explaining or even revealing the truth.

lol

I was a pro in lying about things and I remembered every lie, but then I thought why would I lie. fk it, If you don't like the truth then don't ask.

Well, I am glad that many members stopped by and shared their views. Lying or speaking truth is a personal choice. We have always an option, but we should also take into consideration the future implications of our decision. Oftentimes, we tend to ignore this aspect.

Cheers :)

only problem with the truth is sometimes it gets you into
more trouble than wishing u had said nothing at all - cough -
but im with you [ truth all the way ]

I concur. Sometimes, the truth does land you in soup and in such a situation, I would not like to offer my advice/suggestion.

Cheers :)

Truth and lies can be very complicated. There is a story about a king in a faraway land
who was sick and tired of his people lying to him, so, he decided to do something about it.
He hired the wisest person in the land who had the amazing ability to tell whether or not
someone was lying. The wise man stood at the gate of the kingdom and before anyone
could enter, they had to answer one question. If they told the truth, they were allowed
to pass through the gate, but if they lied, they would be hung on the spot.

It all seemed to work out quite well until a strange man named WizGizmo walked up
to the gate one day and was stopped by the wise man who said, "Tell me sir, where
are you going?" . . . WizGizmo replied, "I am going to the gallows to be hung today."

Now this caused a very perplexing problem. Why? . . . Because if WizGizmo was lying,
then he would be hung, but if they hung him, it would make it the truth.

Interesting situation indeed! :)
