I would like to make a note about Western Union. Sometimes PayPal is as unreliable as any other medium. If you are buying an intangible good, it doesn't really matter whether you send the money through PayPal or not, you won't be able to get a refund because digital or other intangible goods are ineligible for Buyer Protection- and in that case, you're actually more protected from scams by going through WU, where you have plenty of personal information about the person. Also, it's more convenient for the seller because they get paid faster: and as a seller, I know that having money in hand is definitely a stronger motivator to work quickly than having my money in my online account that will take 3 days to get in my hand and could be taken away for up to 2 weeks before I get it back if the buyer decides to try to rip me off.

Just my 2 cents on that issue.

Thanks for sharing these pointers. I appreciate it, and have made a mental note of them. Thanks

Thanks for the information. I have already been scammed by at least 4 people. However, I will keep in mind what all you have mentioned here. Hopefully it will save me in future!

Hi... I was scam before and as I read your post this really a big help to all viewers to stay away from all Scammer's.. Good Job.

  1. If a user doesn't have a BST/Services thread approved by a moderator - don't buy.
  2. Always make sure your payment method can be reversed if the service/product provider flakes. Don't send as a PayPal personal payment, don't western union.

two doubts, im new here, so its better to ask then to get in trouble:

1. how can i know if a user has a BST approved by a mod?
2. what payment methods would you suggest?

thanks,
altadamia

How true!
Now i am looking for a SEO recommendation list on this great board

Great advice...especially the rule of thumb: if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is

So what should you do when, you get taken in by a scammer
where do you name and shame them?
and how long should you give them before you screan they cheated you

There might be other measures, but the obvious route to take would be to PM any moderator.

Regarding your last question, I'm not sure how you might be confused if you were scammed or not. If they don't respond after a significant period of time, assume the worst.

Thank you zen, I don't buy stuff because I got scammed once but knowing all this I might start again. Thanks Again!
