I want to ask everyone what they think their average word count per post is?

I typically have an average of 600 words per post and I think I need to make them shorter and make more posts instead.

I usually end up with about 500 but it seems sites that consistently rank well for difficult keywords post 2000 words and up.

You need to vary the post length for best results.

All those seo guru tips like, keep the keyword desity at 2%, article word count at 500, use bold once, italic one etc.. etc are not going to give you good results in long run. It doesn't look natural. If you are blogger writing for your visitors one day you might have 2000 words long post with lots of pictures explaining something in detail and next day you might have a 150 word post announcing some news. That's natural. That's what you should aim for.

True true! I would not take the certain number of words (say 500), number of paragraphs, keyword density, etc. as some magic figures, try to diversify:)

I use a minimum of 500 words. Of course, I have articles that are more than that. Is it enough for variety? Since the Penguin update, I'm now posting articles that have no keywords at all. I think that's enough for now.

My average would be 500 words although sometimes they get up to 1,000 or even higher depending if I'm enjoying what I am writing and have a lot to say. Anything around 500 seems to work nicely though.

I agree 500-1000 words. I personally have not tested lower word counts but I would strongly advise doing so before adding any word count under 500 on your money site...

350-400 word article is good for ctr on adsense Ive found and 500-700 word article with bullet points is good if your preselling a offer.
