I know most users here work on their own or have their own venture so this question might not apply to you directly. Beside that, I am wondering if anyone here works (or used to work) for marketing agencies or big corporations as a 'sem specialist' (or whatever title they give you). Whats the average salary and what are your roles? I assume you dont use blackhat tools in front of everyone and such?

I would say even a decent SEO guy should make $50 - 100K, Good SEO guys should make $100K - 250K, and elite SEO guys should make upwards of $250K per year.

hum.. thats interesting. Thats much higher than what I am expecting to be honest - especially the 250k, unless we are talking about big corporations here and you're in top roles such as CTO or some sort?

Most of the corporations giving average salary around 5k/month. Because they have more number of workers.

$5k a month; so thats around $60k per year. Thats what I was thinking too. So I guess "SEO specialist" position isnt worth a lot these days then.

Just did a few searches on Dice and that looks about right. Honestly I didn't think SEO/SEM marketers made over $50 - 60k a year. That's a pretty big eye opener.

I am not too surprised about 50-60k per year + bonus + benefits. I think SEOmoz releases salary info every year and i have in fact read about it, but I just want to get some insights here from BHWers and see what you guys think. According to that last SEOmoz report, i think SEO executives make around $90k etc. But of course, no where near 250k as the_demon mentioned, so thats somethign new to me. I am not sure why he said that, maybe thats what extremely big corporations pay. I dont know...

Having said that, i wonder what those SEO marketers do in big corporations. I assume they dont use tools that we use... so how do they even do link building?

I am a link Builder...Can I get Job in USA...I want to go USA to do this type job.....Or I want to do this type job from Bangladesh...anybody can help me?

Sorry man, but i dont think there are any jobs being offered here. This is a thread to see what average salaries are like.

maybe seo roles are more lucrative in america, but here in the UK, the employer want to offer you peasant. from 18k upward.

Guys don't get your hopes up; those numbers are a little on the high side.

Salary will be based upon your roll in the company (link builder, seo consultant, owner, manager, etc.) Most people will be in the 30-75k range unless you are the owner / manager / something special.

Why you copy paste what the_demon said?

"_' ...

There are companies and companies.. someone said 50$/h is a good salary for SEOs. I would stick to this.

Thats the privilege of growing up in a first world country i guess,in a third world country like mine you will hardly make around 1k a month (by regular job) even if you know website development & designing.

Scales quickly though. I went from 22k starting (London weighted) to 40k with a new company in 6 months.

My title is "Jr. SEO Specialist", I work for a mid size company and make 42k + bonus + benefits. I started with almost no experience and i've heard from other professionals in the field that this is just average for north america (i'm Canadian).

This could be used as a frame of reference.

I see what you mean, but on the other hand, our living standards here are high, so it all balance out. With respect, if you make USD and spend it in third world country, you can get much more stuff than we do.

Looking for more inputs on this. Bump

It's directly related to how hard you work. It starts small and the longer you go the more you make. Start at 1k/month and work your way up to 10k/month.
