Ok Here is a method that I discovered a month back and I am currently using it and it works .Here is how:

Step1: Search for Wordpress/Joomla Theme directories and theme Developers .

Step2: Contact them saying that You would pay a one time fee (ranging from $150 to $ 500)if they Add Links in the footer saying " Sponsored by Your Website" in the footer of all the themes listed in the director or just the top 50 themes.

Step3:The hard Part:Tell them that you would edit all the themes unless they themselves want to edit them. Simply hire some one to do that for you.

Step4: Now you have to upload all the themes and give the Download Urls to the Webmaster .

And as soon as the Themes go live you will start getting backlinks.

Now here is a method that will bring you 10-100 backlinks a day (depending on the traffic) totally automated. Now there are thousand of theme directories out there if you scale this up you could easily get more than 1000 links a day.

About 40% of the web masters edit the footer links so that's good for you 60% give you a back link .

You can twist this a thousand times .This can also be used for cookie stuffing.

    Enjoy :D Suggestions are Welcome.

Im sure I saw this thread only a couple of weeks back.

Basically its a good technique that can work real well but they don't have to be paid for templates you could literally scrape a whole template website and add your own.

This way you could even add your adsense / ad server ads as well as backlinks and it doesn't have to cost anything.

On top of that you could create a template website of your own taht you promote through the templates also meaning you could serve ads on a template website.

Lots of ways to make this work and lots of ways to profit from it also.

    Nice technique.

Hi, I used a method similar to this to get hundreds of backlinks. I created an arcade game script and gave it away it free as long as people did not remove the link back to my website. It was in a compiled language so I was able to check to see if a person had in fact removed the link and if they did I just placed it back in :D

It worked a charm but if you have to rely on people not removing the link then you will run into problems.
    Regards

On a personal note... I go out of my way to strip out any reference what so ever when I use free themes.

    - Compress/alter/modify/change format to images to avoid digital watermarking / signatures
    - alter site code
    - remove comments
    - change file names
    - remove any pre-existing links

    ... and so on.

just wanted to point something out to you guys...

    Code:
    rockettheme.com
    is a joomla template site....

    Code:
    compassdesigns.net
belongs to one of the owners...

check the page rank for compass = PR8

Check the number of links according yahoo = 1.4 million

    Code:
    http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=link:http://www.compassdesigns.net/%20-site:compassdesigns.net
Check one of the sites linking to it:
    Code:
    http://www.fencing.net/
visually look for a backlink to compass = none

    check source code for backlinks
    Code:
    <div class="right"><a href="http://www.joomlashack.com" title="Joomla Themes">Joomla Templates by JoomlaShack</a> <a href="http://www.compassdesigns.net">Joomla Templates</a></div>
css code for class "right" =
    Code:
    {display:none;}
now as far as i was aware i didnt think
    Code:
    {display:none;}
was supposed to be picked up by the search engines or liked by google...

certainly to me this would suggest that hidden css backlinking does work... and google doesnt seem to be that bothered about it..... else it wouldnt be dishing out PR8s to sites at the receiving end of css hidden backlinks...

what does this all mean... blanc's method would indeed seem to work and on a large scale too!

The CSS display:none is a quite sneaky trick but there's some controversy over it (google it!) Some argue that Google bot is CSS-savvy and if it detects content that is not showed to humans, it doesn't follow it either. It's a good test though, if you are capable of deploying this over a large scale then you should get some good auto backlinks :)

EDIT: if you really want to go BH with this, you can code your template's footer.php to kill the whole page if backlink code is missing + encrypt the page to make it non-editible by most. :D

I think that you can get backlinks if you provide themes for free and tell them that in order to use your theme, most have that link.

Its a good method, however to get a decent directory to add your link in the themes you would have to pay quite a lot, as there are loads of other people that would pay double what your offering.

So best way would be to make your own free theme, submit it to loads of directories, and there you go. You will start getting thousands of backlinks. As more people will download free templates.
