Hi everyone! I’m planning to build a two-stage algorithm for automated donor site evaluation (for purchasing permanent backlinks) and would love your advice on how to design it most effectively.
Goal: Eliminate up to 80–90% of low-quality sites as cheaply as possible (ideally just a few cents per domain — or even free).
At this stage, accuracy isn’t the priority — speed and low cost are.
I’m considering only basic metrics:
Indexation check: Verify whether the homepage and a sample donor page (usually provided by freelancers as an example of a previous placement) are indexed.
Outbound link count: Check how many outbound links are on the homepage and a typical donor page — if there are too many, exclude the domain immediately. (By the way, what number would you consider “too many”?)
Search visibility check: See if the site ranks on the first page for an exact 7–9 word phrase taken from the donor page content. If it doesn’t even appear there, the site is probably “dead.”
Stage 2 — More Detailed Evaluation
Goal: From the remaining sites, select high-quality and safe donors.
Here, we can spend more time and resources on deeper checks:
Topical relevance of the content and anchor texts.
Backlink profile analysis and link quality metrics.
Questions for you:
Stage 1 — Ultra-Cheap & Fast Filtering

- What would you add or change in Stage 1?
- What would you improve in Stage 2?
- Has anyone here already built a similar pipeline? Which APIs or services worked best for you? (Ideally an all-in-one solution — something like DataForSEO, though their backlink API is a bit pricey.)
- Are there any ready-made services that already do this well? (Maybe I’m reinventing the wheel here )
