It's not that you're allowed to target only one keyword.
Yoast limits itself, the ability to check for single keyword.
Doesn't mean you can't use other related keywords.
There are many tools in the market like surfer seo.
If you're on tight budget look at the LTD on appsumo or other marketplace.

But if you know what you're doing you can pull out a great keyword list just by using the following 3 tools:

Google Search.
Google trends.
Wordcounter.
Surfer Seo chrome extension.

Target as much info content & questions as these are mostly easier to rank.

Thanks for your input. I have some 100’s of low comp underserved keywords, and I am thinking of building an Autoblog kind of a site. So, are you creating each article with ai manually, or you create them automatically with ai API?

When I have my keywords list ready I used to feed them to a tool that was meant to scrape from Google or other sources and rewrite relevant content.
And then post them to WordPress.
Now since the AI tools have come up, I have staff as well as a custom tool that uses ai services and other methods to generate bulk content and post them to WordPress different dates.
Posting part is done by the tool.

Autoblogging still works

But not in the way people used to do it - ripping RSS feeds / mass scraping etc LOL

2022 Autoblogging involves social media content and crowdsourcing and CONTEXT SCRAPING

You read that right - use CROWDS to determine / tweak CONTEXT of your content so you end up publishing content that has a decent chance of BEING READABLE and getting clicked or even linked to
