Delete your uncategorized category, and setup top stories as the default.

Though if your blog is old, this may not be a good idea because you'll lose link juice.

How come that autoblogged 2.3 is not putting it directly into "top stories" ?

it puts it into the default category

I've had this issue too. It goes into uncatagorized even when I don't have a cat named that! I've had to switch to 'feedwordpress'. It's a free plugin and is actually better than autobloggerd.
