Auto-translated content blog network

Hey guys,
do you think it is a good idea to create a blog network via subdomains and fill it with translated english content by Google Translate from foreign language (+ some paragraph shuffle and replacing synonyms)?

I've already started creating my own scripts and web/blog template (I don't want to use WordPress filled with plugins.. because of speed and overall control of site).

I'm afraid that these "blogs" won't rank. Does anybody applied this method? Do you think it still has some potential in 2018?

Looking forward for opinions :)

google translate is not good enough. the text is mostly nit readable .... you will not rank.
 
Planning to do the same. But with wordpress. Just do it and share the results
 
You need to have real content. You will not gain anything if you are using machine translated texts.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve heard all year. Yes, you can rank with Google translate content. Whether the visitors can understand it properly or not is a different story.

You are re-inventing the mouse trap. It’s fine if you can make a template quickly / make it scalable. But the idea that you’re not using WP because you don’t want it to be “filled with plugins” is dumb.

....... Don’t fill it with plugins. What’s easier? Using a minimalist theme that loads quickly, with the least amount of plugins possible........ or creating your own template and having to either manually create or figure out a way to mass produce HTML pages on the fly?

There are a million ways to auto gen Wordpress pages. You’re over complicating this way too much.

Thank you for your reply. I've tried to manually translate some articles from that foreign language and I was quite suprised with the quality of the translation.

Nice! I wish you best luck bro. What plugin will you use? I've tried some old version of WPRobot lately, but I don't like it.

Thanks man. There are many reasons why I want to implement my own way of doing this.
First and the biggest reason is that it's some kind of challange for me.
Second, I want to scale this method. I've tried Wordpress and it's multisite function and it's just too much robust I think.
My plan is to make system, where I can just insert one row to SQL table and new site (subdomain) will be created.
Each of these sites will have it's own unique source of content, which will be automatically added by a script running in a background of the server (CRON or on my own RaspPi).

My prediction is that you’ll spend a month working on this and it will never make a single dollar. If any, pennies.

But good luck, I just know from experience when I’ve tried to reinvent the wheel, it doesn’t really end well. Maybe if you have a better mouse trap... but you’re talking about developing something that can easily be accomplished in Wordpress.


When I first learned PHP... “hmm let’s make our own lightweight CMS based in HTML”. <— Dumb.

After a while later... “let’s make scripts that can help us automate our important tasks and speed up the production of Wordpress sites instead of reinventing the wheel”. <— Bingo! Now I’m cashing.

if you can generate articles in txt format then no need for plugins
