There are any wordpress plugin that adds tags from the title or content? i have lots of posts not tagged yet. around 1000 ... i saw one in the past but i forgot where.

Bizzman: sorry it didn't worked for me. I was looking for something that add tags itself, not to suggest me some tags, there are alot of plugins that "suggest" tags; + that plugin suggested me as tags, the images links.
mightybh: they are considered good for seo. that's why so many sites use them. There is more, if you wanna do link exchange and you find a blog related to one of your tag, you may exchange link with that.

The thing is, that auto tage just does nothing for me. I don't mean results wise, but rather the fact it just doesn't work, it produces no tags. This is incredibly annoying for me. I wonder if it is some issue to do with where it pulls the tags from?

the simple tags plugin will do that, just upload it to your plugins and then in manage you will see auto tags...in the keywords list paste every tag you can possibly think of,
hit auto tags all content and it will scan the titles and content and add the tags, if it doesn't add a particular tag you are wanting, just add that to the keyword list and hit auto tags again.

to find the plugin just google simple tags

Simple Tags is also great for mass editing plugins- you can see about 20 posts at a time and add tags to them all at the same time.
