First of all, thanks for sharing your experience OP. Actually, last week I was thinking about how harsh Adsense are in terms of approving your website for monetization.
I really want to create a similar website, but always had doubts if Adsense were going to approve it or not. I guess only way to find out is to try.
A bit offtopic, but I'd appreciate if you can answer this. How much do you think I should pay for hosting for a simple blog website that is going to consist only of text and few photos here and there? No automation, just handwritten posts. Thanks!

The best thing is I am hosting for free with Oracle. Although quite a lot of posts so far, all with images the site is lightning fast

Now there are 2450 posts and 1510 indexed. I still haven't done anything to promote the site. Something has happened (maybe Google update?) as visitors have shot up today.
