auto close 90 day old topics or some such.

every few days some new guys go way back in the archive and reply to topics, some of which are more than a year old.

i have been a member of forums before that topics would auto lock after 90 days of no activity. they would still be there for viewing but it stopped people from bringing back old topics.

i think it would help keep the clutter down on the forum.

It may help but on the other side it also have a disadvantage.

Like, if there was a topic started by say Mr X and he is giving an ebook to make $$$, and say after 1 yr someone downloaded it and read it and found that method no longer work,s then he will reply and will let us know, so it will help us.

So, auto close have both advantages and disadvt.

I disagree with this suggestion. It may work in other forums - but this site shares methods, and if people need help with the method they found correctly using the SEARCH function, then I think they deserve it.

whats wrong with replying, maybe they found some new evidence on it or something else. the only place where i see this working is JV section

even if they made the limit 365 days i would be okay.
topics from 2007 really have no valid reason to be bumped.

That's would cause a barrier of communication, post/thread date isn't an important thing. New people come all the time and genuinely ask questions and contribute.
