Definitely up for this, What do I need? Any domain name, hosting and that script right? Ill get it up in next few days.

Sounds like a good idea. Definitely would join. I think there should be more than one article platform though. But not a big deal. If you guys want some kind of automation tool, i can help with it, build a script or Sick Submitter module etc.

I find the idea brilliant! 1000 auto approve article directories doesn't sound bad at all

Also we can think about Social bookmarking network the same way...

I'm in.

Maybe on the registration form every site should have a unique word that needs to be entered. That would keep it private and allow them to be auto approve once you have an account on each site. It would make creating new accounts a pain but that way it doesn't matter if people know the sites.

Should we put a minimum requirements for bhw members to join this? Like number of posts, - or + reputation / itread, join date?

I'll get one up in few days. :)

Before going forward with this, I think the rules need to be put together, as well as a central members and submission area set up. Plus an agreement on what type of directory platform we should all use. Once that is done I'll go ahead and set up a bunch of them.

If you are buying new domain for this project, you can check this LBrown's Tutorial, how to buy expired domain with backlinks and PR, thats way we get better domains in this club:

Hi all, im really interested in getting invlolved and found Lbrowns tut v helpful for this and the future!

So, im looking at getting a domain to get invlolved in this project but im struggling a little with TLD's, domain keywords and age.

can anyone shed some light please? I do not know of any other methods to find available domains that have a past history of article submission etc.
I think its pointless going for any expired domain that doesnt have the subject history - been articles.

Surely some domain age will count alongside inbound links? most important of the two?

I was thinking .info may be suitable but not seeing many other existing article directories with .info off the top of my head? This thought is only because .info is not necessarally tied to a country and is usually for info sites or non profit. I cant see a logical way other than to manually sift through the filtered search results. Your help would be most appreciated guys and gals!

Also OP if you need a hand setting anything up - members area etc let me know. Have some free time this week.

This sounds very interesting and a great way to get some extra backlink juice from quality article content. Would be great to see this working and bringing the BHW community into the circle of helping each other.

But i have a few questions:

Article directories have taken a huge whack from Google quite recently, do you think article directories still have as much clout in search engine rankings?

Would we setup some kind of structured linkwheel between the directories, so the link juice is passed on to help raise PR or would this leave too much of a footprint?

Will everyone's directory need to include a sitemap page that is updated regularly when new articles are submitted, so that an individual can be responsible in collecting and pinging everyone's sitemap links on pingfarm or some other service to help search engines crawl the content?

I'm sure there are loads of questions and ideas to make this work properly, i would love to be involved in this and hope everyone can agree on the same directory script so everything runs smoothly.

I'm in...I have been thinking of starting a directory for a while now. Have we set up a skype channel yet?

Edit:
Ok I now have my article directory up and running. Let me know when and how I can get started.
