Authority Site SEO Case Study

BTB, it's been a long time, I'm not even sure you would remember me.

I've quietly sat back and watched this thread and chuckled a few times at how similarly we operated with large sites and I've got to tell you - I am impressed but your on going commitment to helping people through it.

I would almost consider this the quintessential thread for anyone focused on lead generation or adsense specifically, although we both know how well other affiliate or self-created products can be implemented here.

While the focus of the thread is primarily about the importance of content (given the thread title is about Authority Site SEO, that makes sense) I only wanted to quickly mention one thing to guys.

Promote what you create.

WEB 2.O's, Press Releases, PBN's have been mentioned and they are so extremely valuable in this model.... but eventually, once the site has reached a threshold of mass, you can begin to use that mass as leverage.

As an example, I love using Reddit to gain massive exposure - but you've got to be interesting, selfless, and engaging. Hard for most BH seos to do, I know. In the end though, if executed properly your site will attract more links than you might otherwise imagine...

Then there is the typical outreach bullshit, but that's not really where I'm going with this.

After all the long hours of writing (or speaking) I hope people recognize that they don't have a site as much as they have a cash producing asset that they can then leverage with to go on and either really blow up, or just do more with than run Adsense and hope to see people come in purely from SERPS.

But building the authority site is the start of that, and you've gone way above and beyond to educate on how to do that.

Well done sir.

Of course I remember you and am glad to see you pop up once again... big thanks for the contribution above as that is some valuable stuff for the folks.

Very interesting stuff !

I am currently starting a journey on my own - my first one - and I had a couple questions about SEO -

The domain I am thinking to buy is aged ~ 3 years with 7000 backlinks - 122 of them are junk according to linkdelete - should I go with this domain or start with a new one?

I was also thinking about doing a couple guest post on other site in my current niche.. Would that be enough to rank my site after a couple months?

Should I outsource my seo? If yes, can you refer to someone who does a nice job on BHW?

I would need to look at more than just the number of backlinks and age to give you an honest assessment as to the domain quality... there is much more to it than that.

I don't think that a handful of guest posts has a lot of value although there is some value to them and I would not expect them to be the instigating cause for your site to rank very well. They are probably nice as an ancillary backlink but they are typically not the spine in your backlink infrastructure.

If you were to outsource the SEO there are a few different guys that offer a quality service here on BHW; a couple that I know have an offer here in the marketplace are Leith and RabbitKing and you will not go wrong using either guy to give you quality service at a fair price.

Awesome ! Thanks for the info. I pm'ed you the domain names I'm looking at. I will also look at Leith and RabbitKing SEO offers.

Thanks !

I heard buying expired domains with high DA and adding new links to them could be flagged, because it's weird they just get new backlinks.

Great journey mate! I just wonder why do you prefer a fresh domain instead a aged domaine with a good matrics ?

Good luck , and waiting new update from you!

I don't actually have a prference so much as I don't see the need for an aged domain when building out a site like this as it is usually a project that takes a year + to build and an aged domain would have little benefit in that scenario.

There are benefits to domains with age and backlinks for sure but in this kind of endeavor it is not really necessary.

Great journey. I am also going to start a journey on my own thanks for giving great advices..

Is it a good idea to use only "pages" for our authority website? I am currently working on one new website which is targeting about 60 kws with medium competiton.. My plan is to build this website by only putting the content into "pages" , not "posts" ... So 60 articles will be added as pages...

Will this be a good structure? (will Google understand the architecture of my site , if I got pages added to my main menu and a drop down pages connected to them)
If not - Can I use breadcrumbs for pages as I found plugin for this purpose?

Thx BTB

I have read 25 pages and this is very inspiring. The countless sites I have that just need 200 articles placed on them is ridiculous. I need an in house writer? How do you manage everything? Business, web sites, writing, projects. I would love to hear some on that side as well as this site build out. Thanks for this, it is honestly a breathe of fresh air in this community!

I use posts for most of my articles and use this base structure:

You need to alter it some when building a huge site but it is the base structure that I use on all my sites.

I'm real fortunate in that I have a top of the line right hand person, some outstanding VAs that work for me and a few partners that are 82% smarter than me.

May I know how many keywords used per content article(300 words)?

My articles are very rarely that small but I keep the KW density below 1.5% usually.

Hi BTB. First of all, I can't thank you enough for the amount of content you've shared just in this single thread. It is beyond anything that I've read or purchased!

I have a question. So with the 55+ Web 2.0s that you've built, where did you have them backlinked to? Just random posts on your site? I was just curious because I don't think you mentioned to where you backlinked them specifically.

I know you said you didn't do too much backlinking to your Homepage, plus the category pages were backlinked with the parasite pages each. Just wondering where those web 2.0's pointed too.

Thanks!

Hey man. Thanks for your awesome journey.

Could you please explain what a power page is versus anchor article? How is the linking juice flowing? I assume from root ---> category ---> power page <---- post <--- anchor article?

I have read the full thread for a second time now. Great content!

Out of curiousity, now after a two years, how has the site developed? It would be interesting with on last update on how it all ended up.

Cheers!
