Audio on Assoc. Content

Hey ya'll,

Has anyone worked with or done any audio recording on Assoc.Content? I'm wondering if it is possible to do articles that you would normally write and put them in audio form? Or do they have to be in story form. I checked and didn't see any that looked just like a regular article. Appreciate any and all comments and/or suggestions.

Great question Iron, Hmm, I'm not sure about this one. Am also interested if anyone has feedabck on this. Would sure speed things up considerably for self rewriting
 
I'm not sure but check for audio in your assignments and click view and it will tell you the details required.
 
I have never seen an audio assignment even posted, but would love to hear about what kinds of audio they look for (other than news-related audio). I wonder if it pays better than writing.
 
Audio submissions on Associated Content are only able to be published with the "Display Only" license (which pays only with performance views), so getting worthwhile income from an audio submission would be pretty rare to come by seeing as Upfront Payment is really the only sure way to guarantee a good bit of money.

Sure thing: when you click on the "Publish" link and click on the "Audio" tab, the first page asks you to select your rights and payment options. The only ones available are "Display Only" and "Automatic Performance Payments Only" respectively. You can check out the page here:

Lately in the assignments section there have been some audio assignments nearly every day, if anyone is interested.

Yeah, noticed the same thing myself today and put a claim on 3 of them. I'm curious to see how they work out. I'll let everyone know what happens. The due date is 5 days from today so I hope to have them in tomorrow. Right now researching the best way to record to my computer. I know about the sound recorder in XP but it appears to only record 1 min. at a time so I'm looking into some software to use. BTW, anyone have any suggestions for good voice to computer recording?

I submitted audio to AC weeks ago knowing that it was only for Performance Payment. However, I submitted audio on a HOT topic so I knew that as long as I got a few thousand hits a week, I'd be set. So far my Performance Payout looks much better! ;-)
Please note, it takes upwards of 2 weeks to get your audio approved!! :(

Also, it helps to promote your audio through other means outside of Associated Content so that when people click on whatever icon you have in place, they are instantly redirected to your AC link.

Thanks for the input. Good to know someone is working the audio side of AC. If I may ask...how did you do your recording? I just downloaded some software and am trying to get the hang of it. Did you get nervous when you first did it? Found myself getting a little nervous...not wanting to goof-up. And I sputtered over a few words. Guess maybe I'm trying to be too perfect. Anywho, any more suggestions?

Coming from an ex-radio DJ, a good way to get over a case of the nerves is to have someone there and talk to them, and not the mic. Or a picture, or something. Might sounds silly, but it helps.

Thanks for the excellent suggestion. Ya' know, it's interesting...I've done quite a bit of public-speaking and always in front of a mic. But for some unknown reason a case of the nerves set in that time. I think some of it was because I was trying to record off some written material. I just finished up doing 3 audio articles and did them extemporaneously, without referring to the paper. Finished off with no problem this time. So, lesson for me...read and understand then do it naturally. Thanks again for the comment.

Btw, redtide...no word back from AC so I'm just going ahead and submitting. Then we'll see what happens. If they don't accept them then I'll learn from my mistakes and move forward. Also, I think I'm going to do what you did...contact the most prolific audio authors and see if I can get some hints and tricks. Then incorporate them into some audios and work at it from that angle.

Sounds like a good plan iron, Let us know how it pays off and what kind of time frame who have involved per piece. It could be a nice $$ maker
