Attn Indians: Stop Calling People "Dear"

I think it’s all the rolling about and inhaling the fumes from their own sewage that might be making their heads numb, because it’s 2022 and they somehow still haven’t managed to build any nationwide sewage system or water treatment systems and end up knee deep in their own shit everytime it rains…

Honestly, I totally understand what you're saying. It's not really about them saying *dear* as much as it's about the bullshit which often goes with it. We're dealing with cultures and one that can't solve its basic plumbing problems is going to have a large group of people that are difficult to do business with.

Have you also noticed that a large part of the Internet has basically been turned into a 3rd world nation?

10 pages on this thread :) ! I am Indian. I think a lot of us use Dear in the beginning of any formal correspondence because that is how we were taught to write letters in schools.

It's obviously a faux paus when interacting with people from other cultures. Many Indians just don't know any better but. It's primarily because they are not exposed to foreign cultures...

In the country of my residence they literally say "please sir" - to every stranger they encounter. It's extremely strange!!! It's a non-English country.
It's not strange, I see it as a form of respect. Where I come from, we don't call older people by their names.

One possibility is that Indians use the term "dear" to signify respect. When addressing someone as "dear, "They may be conveying that they consider the person to be important.

Deer Sir,
Interestingly I have had a lot of my interaction with scammers mostly from the so called 1st world nations as well as the 3rd world nations.
The problem is 1st, 2nd, 3rd whatever is a self proclaimed certification by people from any region.
Now most of these people have a sick mind or rather I would say immature mind.
Those people an opportunity to take out there frustration by stereotyping and highlighting the negatives of others.
Now these people won't have the thought of talking about any positives of others just because they like to vent out their frustration.
Reality is a scammer is an individual and I can't label everyone or a whole group from any part of the world 1st, 2nd, 3rd world.
Emotion doesn't care about any community so you are labeling others maybe cause either you have been deprived of experiencing it or you can't stand others experiencing it.
An advice if you don't like these people you stereotype just block them and go find ones from your preferred region.
It would just cost you something extra, few extra paper pieces.

That deer sir is a gift from the 1st and 2nd world regions, by making technology more accessible to these so called 3rd world regions.
While the purpose of that gift is rather for own selfish gains by creating a trained and skilled set of people.
Everything comes at a price, westernization of 3rd world regions will take a hell lot of time maybe 200 years or 500 years or even more but the transition period will have side effects.
