Attitude to backlinks from forums and blogs?

I find targeted forum posts work much better than most people think and do help to rank targeted keywords.

This is my method:
1. Use AHREFs to find high traffic/authority websites in my niche.
2. Filter backlinks by platform: "message boards".
3. Gather a list of 10-20 forums, start with the highest DR.
4. Register accounts on forums.
5. Leave sit for 3-4 days.
6. Post 2-3 helpful posts on each forum.
7. Next is your link post, comment on an existing thread, do not link yet.
8. After 4-5 days go back to your comment on your link post and edit your post, this is where you place your backlink.

9. Bonus Tip: Use the forum search function to find threads directly related to your web page. Search by "title" using the advanced search.

Can it find places, where you can leave ******** backlinks?

Sure, here's one: t e c h r e p o r t . c o m / forums

I can still edit my post from months back. PS: Its d o f o l l o w :)
A good example and trick, how many forums you had with such specification?

Can you write the steps which you are using to achieve that?

Do you find this is possible even with the low post count? I find it hard to even contribute when you have 0 - 10 posts on Forums.

It's up to forums specific, there are a lot of forums, where you can edit messages for an unlimited period. That's why If you probably post message and you're new member, after 1 week you checked that you can edit your message. Bravely post a message and then after a week edit them with a link and it became indexed and checked by ahrefs and other search bots.

OP. Interesting tactic! Yesterday I registered at 10-12 forums, then posted 1-2 post at each forum, but only 2 allow me to edit my old posts. I'll continue to collect posts, then check what happens with other forums. I had no idea that this functionality could be unlocked over time.

Currently, I'm seeing that "vBulletin" boards allow post-editing even from the beginning.

Do you have observation for other forum systems where this functionality is unlocked by default?

Do you know anyone tried to make PBN based on forums?

For example:

I registered at 10 forums. Only two of them allow me to edit old posts. I already wasted my time to register and write posts in all 10 forums in order to check is there have the desired functionality. I'll have links only from 2 forums. I'll name these forums - Forum-1 and Forum-2. The other 8 accounts can be used for boosting these forums where are my links. I can put inside 4 forums, home page with link to my post/topic at Forum-1 where I have links to money-making page + inside other 4 forums will put links to my link post inside Forum-2. Schematically things will look like this:

What do you think is it possible creation of such Forum PBN to help for better ranking?

If it was me, I wouldn't build a whole link building strategy around forum link building. But if you want to scale this is what I do:

Honestly, forum link building is boring, tedious and sometimes frustrating because as you rightly state, some forums do not let you edit your posts.

I simply scrape my forums with Ahrefs, make a fake gmail and record in Excel each process with dates.

My excel headers look like this:

1. forum URL
2. forum sign-up date
3. 1st post date
4. total posts (number of posts I have made on the forum, I try to aim for around 4-5)
5. target post url for target backlink (this is where I do a forum search and try to find a relevant post thread related to my website).
6. live link date (I always wait a week before I edit my post).

It's really a numbers game but by using Excel you can stay organized and focused which is half the battle when doing forum link building. In my opinion forum link building is undervalued because people think it's just related to profile links, which are just junk.

Good luck!

Interesting idea, but I think it can be rationally done only in an automated way. What do you mean "Home page links from other forums"? You should link to the topic, where you post earlier. But it can be useful, when UR or TF/CF on the url topic – low.

Hahahaha. I'm doing almost the same in excel. I even created several formulas which color the different cells. Initially was a very boring task. Once I created the right formulas inside the excel is much easier. The excel highlight the at which forums I have enough old posts where I can put links, at which forums I need to collect posts before to start posting links, etc. I'm scraping data from topics where my links are located with IMPORTXML. It's very useful, because with regular expression you know at every moment that the link is still there. In case the post is deleted/moderated you receive alarm to check what happened.

I agree with you, that the best way to do that is fully automatic. Unfortunately, I don't see a way how to be achieved.... There are too many protection mechanisms.

Under "home page from other forums", I mean that all forum systems allow users to put inside the profile "Own page", "Home page", etc (the different forums have different name of that function) which can be link to anywhere.

I'm hearing for the first time about Xrumer. Thanks. I'll check what can do with that software. I personally don't expect that the whole work will be able to be done with this bot, but if search of new forums and registration can be autoimated this will save me much time.

The profile links are still indexed by google. Inside Google Search Console I'm seeing all new created links from forums' profiles. That's why I'm concluding that they still have some value. Of course, I don't believe that you can rank page only with links from forum profiles, but they definitely helping with SEO.

I think that the main problems with these links are they are usually nofollow and you can not control the anchor text. According to Majestic, these links are links as any other links. They have low quality, because are "deep links" and google must follow 4-5 or even more links before to reach the post, where the profile link exists.

After started following the current topic and thinking about problems, I think that the quality of these links can be improved with exposed earlier PBN based strategy.

I'm planning to use this "deep page" where I can put ******** links with a controlled anchor. Then I will throw to this page several nofollow profile links from other forums + several ******** links from other free sources like Facebook pages, Instagram profile links, etc. Then will monitor the "power" of this page with Majestic. I expect it's quality to be improved, because now it will have not only internal deep links, but and external backlinks.

If the theory works, the end result will be +1 quality ******** forum link to my money-making page.
