atomic email studio trial and ransomware?

Recently set up a fresh Windows 8 VPS and installed the Atomic Email Studio trial (downloaded from official atompark website). After a few days I log into my VPS and notice all my files are encrypted and there is a notepad file on the desktop that tells how to pay to unlock my files.

The only software I installed on this fresh VPS was Firefox and Atomic Email Studio trial.

Not saying it's 100% Atomic Email Studio but all fingers point to that. Only other posibilities to install ransomware on the box would be a rouge employee at the vps provider or a hacker who did it through some type of exploit remotely? (doubt that)

Anyone else experience this or know anything about it? Reason I'm asking is I was actually planning on buying the software but it seems the creators of Atomic Email Studio have wrapped in some type of ransomeware that activates after a certain amount of time of using the trial without purchasing.

I got another vps on the same C class running the same OS and nothing is wrong with it ... hmmmmm

Me thinks it's your VPS is infected.

On other note, I'm running Atomic Sender on my main pc. Is that safe?

I was personally promoting AtomPark products in the past, but guys behind these products started to play shady tactics with buyers and promoters. So, I just stopped promoting them because I was started to receive 2/3 complain emails each week from the guys which were bought it through my channel. Also they've cheated many affiliates as well including me when I told them to improve their support and sort out the buyers issues. They just blocked my affiliate in response. I'd suggest everyone to stay away from them.
