Recently set up a fresh Windows 8 VPS and installed the Atomic Email Studio trial (downloaded from official atompark website). After a few days I log into my VPS and notice all my files are encrypted and there is a notepad file on the desktop that tells how to pay to unlock my files. The only software I installed on this fresh VPS was Firefox and Atomic Email Studio trial. Not saying it's 100% Atomic Email Studio but all fingers point to that. Only other posibilities to install ransomware on the box would be a rouge employee at the vps provider or a hacker who did it through some type of exploit remotely? (doubt that) Anyone else experience this or know anything about it? Reason I'm asking is I was actually planning on buying the software but it seems the creators of Atomic Email Studio have wrapped in some type of ransomeware that activates after a certain amount of time of using the trial without purchasing.
