I find astral projection very interesting. I'm also quite interested in lucid dreaming but I never really have the time to read or research into any of this. I was wondering if anyone would be able to recommend any books on astral travel?

I used to be fascinated by that stuff in the mid 2008s...later just left it somehow...

I used to read that NLP or listening to something like that helps.

I love astral traveling. I've done it before and its fun. I haven't been working on it lately though.
This guy's video was what really inspired me when I was first starting out:

I'm a big fan of lucidology when it comes to learning. I got results very fast:

    How does it feel really?

I thought I have it a few times. I felt like I could fly. It's always the same dream. Intend to pursue this more but have no time...

It's definitely a fascinating thing. I first heard of it back somewhere in 2008 but never really tried anything...

Is this something you know from personal experience?

i had a lucid dream last night :)
lucid dreaming and astral projection are two very different things.

lucid dreaming is not a far stretch of the imagination. if you can have a normal dream, you can have a lucid dream simply by becoming aware of the fact that you're dreaming.

astral projection however, requires you to assume far more unverifiable premises, and i don't personally subscribe to most of them. ;)

i used to intentionally try to induce lucid dreams a lot when i first found out about it. basically the best way to do it is to fuck up your sleep schedule so that your brain's not operating in the same routine it usually does, making it more likely that you'll be conscious when you normally wouldn't be.

unfortunately lucid dreaming doesn't have hardly any practical applications beyond entertainment, and screwing with your sleep schedule too often can get exhausting, so i don't bother doing it too much any more.

an interesting note is that you can actually increase the degree of control you have over your own dreams just like any other skill, just by practicing it over and over. in the beginning you'll just end up waking yourself up a few seconds after becoming aware, but gradually you'll get better and better at it, up to the point where you're doing shit like this: ;)

Yes, actually a few years back when I first experimented with Brain Entrainment I had a few lucid dreams.

I have been doing BE again for the past few months and have not yet had a lucid dream. Main difference is back then I was trying to have lucid dreams, now it really does not matter if I have one or not.

Because now I occasionally get sleep paralysis and false awakenings, two things that NEVER happened to me before I started to try lucid dreaming at will. I don't think it's a coincidence.

I've practised lucid dreaming for years. I have very vivid dreams and can recall 4 or 5 every night. I can usually become lucid a few times a week but can only retain lucidity for the entire period of a dream occasionally. It's very difficult, even with much practice. Without doubt the first thing I do every time is fly. Words can describe that feeling.

    Also, check this out: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...em-enhancing-lucid-dreaming-mask?ref=category
I pledged $80 and preordered one. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Inception is an awesome movie. Watched it not too long ago.

    ...

I'm very open minded and one of the reasons I love the Internet is for this very thread, there are like minded people who are open to the world. Most people that I know would just laugh at this, or would give it a try once or twice and would stop bothering because they wouldn't get any results but I don't give up easily.

I will definitely be looking more and more into this, just not straight away as I want to pass my exams. I will look into brain entrainment and see how that goes as well. I've previously made a thread about lucid dreaming so if not here then I'll post in that thread about my progress.

I have two friends who swear they can do this. I don't believe it, though.

However, one time I had a dream about one of said friends. I dreamed he was throwing his dirty underwear at his cat. When I told him of this dream, he said that really happened that night; his cat was jumping on the table and the only thing near him was the laundry hamper, which he opened to grab something to throw at his cat. WTF

i can lucid dream pretty much anytime by reminding myself to look at my hands or a clock before i go to bed. they dont look right when youre dreaming and quite often you'll become lucid. i only thought i travelled once though, maybe it was a dream, maybe not, but it wasnt like any dream i had before or since. i had a lot of sleep paralysis when i was a kid, not any more though -maybe its related. i've heard of people having bad experiences astrally and never pursued it. if my experience was astral, i had a guide, he took me where i needed to go, taught me how yo get there without flying and i suppose this is sounding crazy so i'll stop here.
