I have a close friend who is in dire need of some work, she is based in the UK (Wales) and she is an excellent writer. Due to her personal situation and being in college, a "real world" job is not a possibility, so I figured she could do this, however, she has no experience under her belt as an article writer and I don't really know how to go about getting her gigs - Fiverr is too competitive, Freelancer.com has gone to the dogs...

Anyone know sites like Associated Content that will pay people based in the UK? We'd go the slow way of building our own sites etc, but the money situation is kinda urgent, so any help will be greatly appreciated :)

I know you asked about AC (now Yahoo voices) but Textbroker also allows UK writers.

    • Textbroker UK (payment in Euro)

    textbroker.co.uk/

According to the announcement, ? Textbroker.co.uk will accept authors from Australia, Canada, Britain and other English-speaking countries outside of the US.? And Textbroker.co.uk will pay authors in Euros.

Here is a blog post that explains Textbroker UK (not my blog. I'm just too lazy right now to dig up the email Textbroker sent writers).

    • Yahoo Voices (used to be Associated Content) UK (not sure the payment)

    uk.contributor.yahoo.com/signup/

also I am not sure if the UK site pays upfront. According to the blog post
earn Performance Payments just like contributors in the US. Which means writers would only get paid for page views. PV payments are only once a month.

    • MediaPiston UK (don't know anything about them)

Check out WAHM.com and various other forums/blogs for more UK writing sites.

    Hello,

First things first, there is no such thing as fast money in article writing. You have to build your way north of the ladder.

I suggest she should consider Elance and Odesk. I bet she'll get jobs in no time. I have an account with each of these freelance websites and I've been awarded a number of jobs. I'm currently working a job $10/hr on Elance.

I guess I don't have to educate you on the benefits of a proper profile. Tell her to write about five articles in her favorite niches to make up a portfolio. Most clients want to access your skills before they hire you. Once she has a complete profile, she's well-positioned to win projects.

    I hope this helps.

    Goodluck buddy.
