Asking For "Thanks"

yes, shithappens is right.

No matter how good your product, you will not make the maximum cash out of it unless you advertise it.

You can sell stuff, you will not get paid, unless you ask for payment.

In the same way, sometimes, you need give a gentle reminder to those who reads your posts that a thanks should be given if its useful.

I actually don`t understand what the fuss is all about. Look at my stats :

# Total Thanks: 578
# Thanked 213 Times in 83 Posts

What does that mean? It means that I gave back only a third of what I learned here(actually I truly think it`s more like 1/100). It is a useful reminder. When I was a noob I was thanking everyone who would post something I didn`t know or a new twist on something old.

If you`re a regular user here (not admin/mod/ or outstanding member) and have the total thanks < thanks received, I say YOU are the one who is trying to advertize ! Because there are only two possibilities :

1. You are an awesome blackhat and had nothing to learn from this forum, or
2. YOU are chasing after "thanks" and don`t take the time either to check or thank other people in hope you will be seen as a "respected" member to inflate your ego or scam people.

I mean, god damn, EC has thanked 600 people and he`s the admin! He uses the "thanks" button. You guys should use it too , don`t be cheap , it doesn`t cost anything to give someone a thanks if you found their post at least marginally useful.
