Hello all black haters, recently I created a website, it's a food recipe site, the site is almost 4 months old, it has a good interface and a pretty decent database of recipes (about 15,000 recipe), now I get 30K impressions/month most of the traffic come from pinterest and tumblr, it has PR 2 without link building, I applied adsense and I get about 3$/day.

So what am I doing wrong here? what are your suggestions to bring more traffic?

Going Big, get some structure for your page(Innerlinking, alt,title tags) and all the other on page stuff, then go on posting recipes, then you will get authority and will rank automatic for some recipes.

Do both on-page and off-page SEO. It will help you to get more traffic. No go for adsense now, It is waste of money may be it have more searches with this cost then move on it!

Build links with all you selling keywords with diversifying anchor texts. Go for high PR links from relevant domains.

Try to get the emails of your users, then send them emails with cocking books and your ref

Don't they have some recipe books or something on clickbank? You could try that! Or else Amazon affiliate products related to kitchens

3 dollars a day is more than 99% of people make with adsense. Good job! You are making over 1000/year with this site.

I strongly recommend adding plenty of quality backlinks.

Before deciding what you did wrong, focus on what you did right, and explore different ways to monetize it.
